Curupixa Wood - Kurupiza Wood

Curupixa wood – Curupixa wood is a rare imported hardwood with a fairly uniform reddish-brown color, sometimes with pinkish tones. The surface is smooth with no prominent grain. The heartwood and sapwood of Curupixa are similar in color. It has a medium luster, with no smell or taste. The grain pattern is straight or wavy, with a fine texture, suitable for the production of Curupixa engineered flooring.

Curupixa wood hardness is close to European oak. Available only in Grade A with virtually no knots.

Curupixa wood has moderate resistance to white rot and high resistance to brown rot. The heartwood is susceptible to mold and wood-boring insects, but can be protected with termite-resistant paints or varnishes. Arrow Wood has a variety of termite-resistant paints and varnishes.

Curupixa wood flooring will reveal more beautiful and profound colors when treated with oil, but if treated with polyurethane lacquer, the color will fade significantly.

Upon considering surface finishing options, we find that almost 100% of Curupixa wood flooring sold is in its natural color. It is not common to see this wood type in a modified form. Although it can be stained, the final result will be inferior to oak.

If lacquer is used, the base color will be pushed back into the grain, and the color will turn light pink. But if you prefer a darker, more dimensional color, you should use oxidative oil or polyurethane oil.

Like many woods, Arrow Wood recommends a top coat, but Curupixa is not suitable for this type of finish. Floor oils can be maintained with oil or even wax (water-repellent type).
