Sucupira wood flooring Sucupira wood: Strong hardwood, luxurious feel from Latin America

Sucupira wood flooring. Sucupira is a premium hardwood, at least 30% stronger than oak. With this high density, Sucupira wood flooring is a superior hardwood floor.

Sucupira ranges from dark brown to almost black, with dark brown grain patterns contrasting against a lighter yellow background. You can choose to emphasize the dark brown or the yellow based on your preference by selecting the type of finish. Oil will bring out the dark brown tones, while lacquer will brighten the yellow of the Sucupira wood.

Sucupira wood flooring is a more cost-effective alternative to African Wengé, which is quite expensive.

Using engineered Sucupira wood flooring will provide luxury with a touch of modern tropical style. You can emphasize dark tones to enhance the tropical feel with oil, or lighten it with lacquer.

We produce engineered Sucupira wood flooring in 2 thicknesses: 14 mm with a 2 mm top layer, and 19 mm with a 4 mm top layer. The best-selling width is 18 cm, but we can also produce Sucupira wood flooring in a 21 cm width.

Our recommendations for floor finishes depend on the desired emphasis on the wood's characteristics. If you want to darken the wood color, we recommend using oil-based polyurethane or naturally derived oxidizing oils. However, be aware that the topcoat polymer might make scratches more visible.

To emphasize brighter wood tones, we recommend using polyurethane lacquer. Since Sucupira wood is quite dark, hard wax oil should not be used because white scratches will be easily visible, making the floor look unattractive. Additionally, the thin film coating commonly used for oak should not be used for Sucupira wood flooring.
